Here are some pictures of the Grade 7 class inspecting a soil sample. I asked them to really 'examine' the dirt. They had to explain what the soil looked, smelled, felt, sounded, moved and tasted like. Their assignment after this was to create some sort of interesting, funny poem/drawing featuring the characteristics and importance of dirt. I am interested to see what they produce today!
P.S. No, I did not actually make my students eat dirt. They did however get bonus points for doing so. ;)
